                 Hernando Cortes was born in the town of Medellin in 1485.  Cortes was born to a family of lesser nobility, and chose to live in Hispaniola. Hernando Cortes was a Spanish conquistador; Cortes led an expedition that caused the fall of the Aztec Empire. He also brought a large area of mainland in Mexico under the rule of King Castile. Cortes also was part of the generation of Spanish people that began the first part of the Spanish colonization of America. December 2, 1547 in Castilleja de la Cuesta, Seville
